Privacy Notice

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for LaborPower websites. This notice applies solely to information collected by these websites.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

A LaborPower website contains data used in daily operations associated with a Labor Union Local (Local). Information collected on the site is for the day to day management of the Local. Tasks may include verifying member contact information, eligibility, education, training, employment status, work history and dues payments. Data will be visible to designated office staff at the Local. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

Data is collected for use by the Local. The Local may at their discretion share your information with employers, the Local’s International office or other entities at the Local’s discretion.

In addition, we collect information related to the usage of the website. This information includes the date and time you access the site, the type of web browser used and its version number (i.e., the User Agent string supplied by the browser), and the IP Address of your web browser. This information is used to troubleshoot compatibility issues, determine usage statistics, and otherwise tune the site for better reliability.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. for dispatch or dues payments.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data, phone numbers, street address, email address, date of birth, SSN/SIN), that information is encrypted and transmitted in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the Web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees at the Local who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, dues, dispatch, business representatives, human resources) are granted access to personally identifiable information.

Registration

In order to use this website, a user may need to complete an online registration form. During registration, a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to establish a web account associated with member information in the Local’s LaborPower database.

Payments

In the case of online payments, you must provide contact information (like name and billing address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes. Money collected will be deposited in a bank account established by the Local.

Cookies

We use "session cookies" on this site for the purposes of maintaining a “Logged In” state for the duration of your online session. These session cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information and are not used for tracking or marketing purposes. A session cookie is valid for the duration of your online session and is deleted when you log off. If you do not log off, the cookie will expire after a period of inactivity.
